Knight Legacy: A legendary coach (the General), 3 Indiana University grads, fans, family, and friends coming together. The purpose of Knight Legacy is to honor, promote and preserve the Coach Knight Legacy and the footprint that Hall of Fame Coach Bob Knight has made in the history of basketball. Pat Knight is the son of legendary basketball coach Bob Knight and played for the Indiana University Hoosiers from 1990 to 1995 under his father’s leadership. Following his playing career at Indiana, Pat began a lifelong journey in coaching, serving in multiple roles before joining his father’s staff as an assistant coach at both Indiana University and Texas Tech. In 2008, Pat was named Head Coach at Texas Tech after his father’s retirement, guiding the Red Raiders to the NIT Quarterfinals during the 2009–10 season. He later became Head Coach at Lamar University in 2011, where he led the Cardinals to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000. In 2014, Pat transitioned to the NBA as a scout for the Indiana Pacers, serving as the organization’s college scout for the West Coast region. In May 2024, Marian University Director of Athletics Steve Downing officially announced Pat Knight as Marian's 10th head men’s basketball coach in program history. He resigned in February, 2026. Few individuals have been more closely connected to Coach Bob Knight’s coaching legacy than Pat — as his son, a player under his leadership, and an assistant coach throughout his Hall of Fame career. Along with the Knight family, Pat helped establish Knight Legacy as a way to honor, preserve, and promote Coach Knight’s enduring impact on the game of basketball. Pat welcomes fans everywhere to join in celebrating and sustaining the legacy his father left on the sport.
Jason Knight: Jason became close friends with Pat Knight during their time at Indiana University together where they attended many of the same classes and social activities (yes, Kilroy’s is a social activity). During his time at Indiana University, Jason had the opportunity to work Bob Knight’s youth basketball camps called “Bob Knight Basketball School” in which 100’s of youths attended each year to learn and develop the fundamentals of basketball. After graduating from Indiana University, Jason went on to have a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry where he has been an executive for multiple companies throughout his career. In case you’re wondering, Jason is not related to the Bob Knight family but is treated like family as they remain very close today. Jason is excited to be a part of sharing and promoting Coach Knight’s Legacy in basketball history.
John Henry III: John is also an Indiana University graduate and is the Founder and CEO of JH Specialty JH Specialty was started on the IU campus when John was a sophomore. John became close friends with Jason Knight after they met on the golf course many years ago and was introduced to Pat and the Knight family through Jason leading to Knight Legacy being formed by Pat, Jason, and John. John is an IU Alumni Lifetime member, and a strong supporter of the IU Varsity Club. You can often see him in the first row 'behind the wall' in section G in Assembly Hall. John is excited to professionally be a part of something that has such high value to him personally.
