About Knight Legacy
Knight Legacy: A legendary coach (the General), 3 Indiana University grads, fans, family, and friends coming together. The purpose of Knight Legacy is to honor, promote and preserve the Coach Knight Legacy and the footprint that Hall of Fame Coach Bob Knight has made in the history of basketball. Pat Knight: Pat is the son of Bob Knight and played for the Indiana University Hoosiers under his father from 1990 – 1995. After graduating from Indiana University, Pat began his coaching career in many capacities before joining Bob Knight’s staff at Indiana University and Texas Tech University as an Assistant Coach. Pat took over as Head Coach at Texas Tech, when his father retired in 2008 and led the Red Raiders to the NIT Quarterfinals during the 2009-10 season. Pat became the Head Coach at Lamar University in 2011 and led the Cardinals to their 1st NCAA appearance since 2000. Pat is currently a scout for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). No one has been a part of Coach Bob Knight’s coaching legacy more than Pat by being not only his son but a player and Assistant Coach under his father’s Hall of Fame coaching career. Pat along with the Knight family came up with a way to honor and promote Coach Knight through Knight Legacy and welcomes everyone to be a part of maintaining his father’s legacy and the footprint Coach Knight has made in basketball history.
Jason Knight: Jason became close friends with Pat Knight during their time at Indiana University together where they attended many of the same classes and social activities (yes, Kilroy’s is a social activity). During his time at Indiana University, Jason had the opportunity to work Bob Knight’s youth basketball camps called “Bob Knight Basketball School” in which 100’s of youths attended each year to learn and develop the fundamentals of basketball. After graduating from Indiana University, Jason went on to have a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry where he has been an executive for multiple companies throughout his career. In case you’re wondering, Jason is not related to the Bob Knight family but is treated like family as they remain very close today. Jason is excited to be a part of sharing and promoting Coach Knight’s Legacy in basketball history.
John Henry III: John is also an Indiana University graduate and is the Founder and CEO of JH Specialty JH Specialty was started on the IU campus when John was a sophomore. John became close friends with Jason Knight after they met on the golf course many years ago and was introduced to Pat and the Knight family through Jason leading to Knight Legacy being formed by Pat, Jason, and John. John is an IU Alumni Lifetime member, and a strong supporter of the IU Varsity Club. You can often see him in the first row 'behind the wall' in section G in Assembly Hall. John is excited to professionally be a part of something that has such high value to him personally.
